Kafubu Water and Sanitation Company Limited (KWSC) was established in the year 2000 through the Water Supply and Sanitation Act No. 28 of 1997, with the mandate of providing water and sanitation services to three Districts. At formation, the Ndola City Council, Luanshya Municipal Council, and Masaiti District Council were the Shareholders of the Utility. However, Mpongwe District Council was included as a shareholder of KWSC in the year 2023, thereby taking over the provision of water and sanitation services in Mpongwe District. The current shareholding is distributed as follows:
a) Ndola City Council – 86% shares;
b) Luanshya Municipal Council – 11% shares;
c) Masaiti District Council – 2% shares; and
d) Mpongwe District Council – 1%.
